Move Your Ass Day: How To Get Things Done Fast

Recently, I returned to the gym to give my non life a little bit more action. It has been more than a year since I last saw weights and the past weeks have been awesome reuniting with them.

Why the hell did I stop? Simple. I achieved my ideal weight so I saved up enough fat for awhile so I have new reasons to hit the gym. Everybody loves new stuff after all. πŸ˜†

Problem is, once you stop hitting the gym, coming back is as easy as juggling a few balls and an elephant all at once. I kept waiting to feel myself to action, which never happens in real life, btw.

So today I want to tell you the secret to going back to the gym or the secret to doing whatever it is you need or want to do but keep putting off because you don’t feel like it: act yourself to action. I hope the double act word does not tire you immediately.

I guess this is similar to “fake it ’til its real”. Thing is, motivation sucks. Women on their period are less fickle than motivation, so forget it. Just move your ass for the heck of it and do whatever it is you need to do. It’s surprising how doing it attracts the necessary motivation to keep going. Not a bad way to get things done, if you ask me.

I read an African parable that illustrates this beautifully, without using the words ass and hell:

Every morning in Africa, a gazelle wakes up knowing it must run faster than the fastest lion or it will be killed.

Every morning, a lion wakes up. It knows that it must outrun the slowest gazelle or it will starve to death.

It doesn’t matter whether you are a lion or a gazelle: when the sun comes up, you had better be running.

Cool, right? So I therefore declare today Move Your Ass Day. Get shit done, people – it’s a good way to spend your day. πŸ˜€ Hope it helps. It’s almost the weekend, we can do this! Yey!

  1. hahaha that should have been the topic in my next post. you see last saturday i saw my classmates tarpaulin after passing the Architecture exam, then the next day a thousand kilometers away i saw another tarpaulin of a new architect – the picture was the then unknown Shamcey Supsup.. and that very moment i realized i made a big mistake 7years ago. did I just chose the wrong path?

    • i wish i can dance too! but to be honest, going to the gym is a bonding activity between my man and i. exercise comes second. πŸ™‚

    • i go to the gym with my man. i never go alone for the population is 100% men saturated. πŸ˜† but it’s nice to exercise – feels good.
