Recipes For Baking: Always On Red Alert For Epic Fail

I think I’ve mentioned it already, that one of the greatest joys of baking, is that no matter how many cakes, cookies, and breads you’ve made, there will always be more recipes for baking you haven’t tried or more recipes for baking you haven’t even heard of. It goes on and on and it’s lots and lots of fun.

Each time I test a new baking recipe, I’m always on the edge, scared of wasting ingredients in case my attempt fails. My earliest baking disaster includes adding too much lemon extract to a bread batter that it ended up too sour my sisters and My Man even held a contest to whoever can stand eating most of the bread. 😆

I also had a horrible, horrible time making a flourless chocolate cake! Instead of a nice, moist cake I ended up having something that is more like a pie than a cake because the egg whites I added weren’t whipped enough. All the chocolate I wasted following that recipe!

But I guess eating failures and successes is all a part of testing new recipes for baking. You never really go anywhere if you don’t keep on trying, and maybe, that excitement mixed with anxiety as to what will come out of the oven is all a part of the charm of baking.

Oh speaking of, the chocolate brownie above is a new baking recipe I tried today. It’s dark chocolate, eggs, butter, sugar, and pili nuts. I have been making brownies before using a different brownie recipe, but I tried this new one wondering how things will be different… turns out – just the same!

Now excuse me while I eat these lovely brownies. 🙂 Don’t worry, the first bite is for you! Happy weekend everyone!

  2. baking is,in a way, harder than cooking because once the pan is in the oven, there’s no turning back. no modifications allowed.

  3. Wow, You remind me of my mom. She’s a baker too! But omg, how I wish that you were my neighbor. I can just imagine smelling what you bake everytime. I am now drooling thinking about it. tee hee 😀

    • that’s so cool! how about you, have you tried to bake yourself? i really want to be everyone’s neighbor. i like feeding people a lot. 🙂

  4. i always adore people who bake. i’ve read somewhere that its tougher than cooking per se because of the measurements, process, and even making sure that the oven is in the proper temperature to make sure that everything turns out well.

keep on baking PM. i love the new layout, btw.

    • the process actually makes it more charming to me 🙂 i wish you are my neighbor, lj – i’d bake for you every time! i found the time to tweak the blog yesterday, i’m quite pleased with how it turned out too.

  5. ahh… i wish you can make a cake for my hubby. i’m not looking forward for that because i’ll be so busy on his bday with other preps! thanks for visiting my blog, and yes, there will be more posts to come. so stay tuned ^__^ anyway, i hope you have a great weekend!

    • i’m more keen on making fairy cakes tbh. i find decorating cake so intimidating! oh well, maybe after i go to culinary school it will be alright. have a great weekend and good luck with the birthday! you can do it! 🙂

    • i can’t seem to make brownies with a crackly top. somehow i am doing something wrong but that won’t stop me from trying and trying!
